NRW.Energy4Climate: North Sea wind for the Rhineland region

NRW.Energy4Climate, the state-owned company for energy and climate protection, will be bringing a breath of fresh air to structural change on 6 November 2026: North Sea wind for the Rhineland region. I am very much looking forward to hosting the event in Jülich. As a native of Duisburg and someone who is convinced of the importance of offshore wind energy for the transformation in North Rhine-Westphalia, it is a matter close to my heart to bring the coast and the industrial heartland of North Rhine-Westphalia a little closer together.
The focus will be on connecting offshore wind energy to the North Rhine-Westphalia grid. The expansion of offshore wind power and its connection to the electricity grid open up promising prospects for energy supply in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The availability of green electricity offers great opportunities, particularly for the Rhineland mining region:
– For the decarbonisation of industry.
– For a climate-friendly municipal energy supply.
– For attracting new businesses.

The event will focus on current developments and the presentation of specific projects and initiatives from the region. The central question is: what role does an efficient energy infrastructure play in regional development?.
