The EU’s Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA) is a gigantic opportunity for a future prospering sustainable industry and economy across Europe that protects the climate and creates jobs.
\nThe NZIA came into force on June 29, 2024 as a directly applicable EU regulation.
\nOn September 9, 2024, the report by former President of the European Central Bank Mario Draghi on the future of the competitiveness of the European Union (EU) was published. The Draghi report on the future of EU competitiveness provides a good analysis and makes recommendations and proposals for increasing productivity growth, strengthening competitiveness while decarbonizing and promoting resilience and strengthening strategic sovereignty.
\nThe Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA, Regulation on Net Zero Technologies, Regulation 2024\/1735) aims to increase production capacities for net zero technologies in the EU.
\nBy 2030, the EU should be able to cover at least 40% of its annual demand for net zero technologies itself. This will make the EU’s climate and energy targets for 2030 and the climate neutrality target for 2050 more achievable. This will make the European economy more competitive, create high-quality jobs and reduce the EU’s energy dependency.
