A different kind of transformation: From wind energy network to innovation cluster for wind energy and “green” hydrogen is the title of my co-authored article in the book “Clustermanagement in der Praxis: Transformation” recently published by Dr. Gerd Meier zu Koecker and Thomas Wolf at Publisher SpringerGabler.
My article shows which levers are key to successful cluster transformation and how this process can be managed in a targeted manner. The focus is on the importance of cluster work in the context of the energy transition – much more complex than just the change in sustainable energy supply. It is much more about a comprehensive realignment of the entire economy. Such changes must also be reflected in cluster work in order to create sustainable added value in the cluster, especially for SMEs. As transformation processes are associated with many uncertainties, one key to success lies in communication. It is no longer primarily about managing the existing situation, but about realizing new value creation potential that is stimulated by the cluster approach. The focus is on topics such as knowledge transfer, product ideas, joint projects, the offer of a think tank, the joint development of market potential, a changed culture of innovation, or training and further education offers as well as the representation of the interests of the companies with regard to beneficial regulatory decisions.
